Contour, the creative moniker of the Charleston native Khari Lucas has gone through a number of transformations across his creative career. The project began as an instrumental, production based endeavor focused on beat music. After a number of beat tapes, a conceptual album, and contributing production to artists such as Blue November and Fly Anakin, the artist took his first venture into songwriting with 2017’s Softer EP. Following its release and the release of its accompanying short film, he began performing with a band to expand the potential for presenting his music. In 2018, he released Interim Report as well as Garrot Odum, as well as the single “Tantrum in a Azure” and the cover “Stop Trying to Be God”, indicating a shift to a new sound. At the beginning of 2019, he was announced as one of the artists chosen for the inaugural class of NTS’ WIP program.
